
Dedicated 'all-in-one' sensor for the MiniMed™ 780G system improves the user experience and helps reduce the daily burden of diabetes management
MiniMed, a global leader in diabetes technology, today announced the launch of its Simplera Sync™ sensor in Korea, expanding sensor choice for people living with diabetes using the MiniMed™ 780G system. The launch is part of the global rollout of the Simplera Sync™ sensor, following successful launches in the U.S., Europe and Australia. MiniMed also plans to launch the MiniMed™ 780G with Simplera Sync™ in Canada later this year.
The Simplera Sync™ sensor features an improved user experience with a simple, two-step insertion process and is half the size of previous Medtronic sensors*. It’s a disposable, all-in-one sensor that requires no fingersticks** or overtape. A study of people with type 1 diabetes who transitioned from the Guardian™ 4 Sensor to the Simplera Sync™ sensor reported that participants experienced greater ease of sensor insertion, a slimmer device design, reduced management burden from the integrated disposable structure, and improved sense of autonomy.1
For approximately 52,000 people in Korea living with type 1 diabetes, managing glucose levels is a continuous, day-and-night responsibility that requires frequent monitoring, insulin dosing decisions, and device interactions. Automated insulin delivery (AID) systems can help reduce this daily burden by using continuous glucose monitor (CGM) readings to automatically adjust insulin delivery, supporting more consistent glucose management while helping ease some of the mental and practical demands of diabetes care. The 2025 clinical practice guidelines of both the American Diabetes Association (ADA) and the Korean Diabetes Association (KDA) recommend the use of automated insulin delivery systems for these people living with type 1 diabetes. 2 3
Beyond glucose control, diabetes technology plays an important role in reducing the day-to-day burden of living with type 1 diabetes. By automating insulin adjustments and simplifying sensor use, AID systems can help reduce the number of manual decisions and steps required each day, allowing people with diabetes to focus more on daily life and less on disease management.

Q: What is the MiniMed™ 780G system?
A: The MiniMed™ 780G System is an automated insulin delivery system that automatically adjusts and delivers both basal insulin and correction boluses at intervals of up to every five minutes, based on glucose values measured by a CGM sensor. Powered by the proven SmartGuard™ algorithm with Meal Detection™ technology, the system is designed to help reduce the burden of manual insulin adjustments by responding to changing glucose levels throughout the day and night. It also features one of the lowest glucose target settings (as low as 100 mg/dL) of any automated insulin delivery system.
Q: What is the Simplera Sync™ sensor?
A: Designed to be integrated with MiniMed automated insulin delivery systems, the Simplera Sync™ sensor is a disposable, all-in-one continuous glucose monitor (CGM) requiring no fingersticks** or overtape. Simplera Sync™ features an improved user experience with a simple, two-step insertion process. Existing MiniMed™ 780G System users can begin using the Simplera Sync™ sensor immediately through a software update via the MiniMed Mobile app, with no device replacement required.
Q: What is Time in Range?
A: Time in Range (TIR) is the percentage of time people with type 1 diabetes spend in the target glucose range of 70–180 mg/dL. Diabetes management aims to maximize time in this range and reduce highs and lows that can cause immediate and long-term complications. Clinical and real-world evidence suggest that the MiniMed™ 780G system can help people with type 1 diabetes achieve consistent glycemic control that substantially exceeds ADA and international consensus guidelines of 70% TIR, with many users achieving 80% TIR 4 5 ∞ when using optimal settings. A separate real-world study of 8,019 U.S. MiniMed™ 780G system users (aged 7 years or older) demonstrated that the system delivered 91% overnight Time in Range 6 †^ ∞ which means fewer beeps, fewer alarms and a restful sleep.
